Kjaer Weis lipstick in Honor is beautiful in theory. Let me start by saying that I really like this brand. I love the design, packaging, ingredients, vibe and shade ranges. I don’t always love the price but I do think they’re usually worth it. This lipstick formula just did not work for me.
Hey guys! It’s been a little bit but I’m so happy to get back into writing more for the blog. I recently realized it’s been over a year since I switched to clean beauty, and a lot of the products I’ve bought are starting to expire (cleaner beauty=fewer chemical preservatives, which usually means a shelf life of 12 months or less).
This process has been really fun and interesting for me, and one of the major things that I’ve learned is that trying to live a 100% nontoxic lifestyle 24/7 is not only impossible (hello, wi-fi waves, food without listed explicit ingredients, and ubers/shops/hotels/friends and family with synthetic fragrance); it was also actually wearing on me a little and stressing me out. I’ve really been learning to prioritize my peace of mind and happiness as one of the most important aspects of my health, and for me that now includes less obsession over every aspect of my life and more intention on enjoying it!

This Black Friday I finally bought Plume, clean beauty’s most popular and raved about eyelash/eyebrow serum. I used Latisse (a prescription eyelash growth serum) before my wedding last year, and fell in love with how long and full my eyelashes and brows were after using it. Unfortunately, Latisse also has many potential side effects—from irritation to lid and eye discoloration to changes in vision. I began having some blotchy vision after using it for a couple of months and stopped immediately after that began. Thankfully my vision returned to normal, and eventually my brows and lashes returned to normal as well.
Facial massage has been gaining lots of popularity lately, from electrocurrent stimulation devices to micro-needling to good old fashioned bare hands and facial oil. The appeal is that consistent facial massage could be a natural alternative to more drastic measures like botox and other medical/surgical procedures for firming and lifting your skin and features. Additional suggested benefits include increased circulation, reduced puffiness, enhanced product absorption, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and detoxing and calming the skin.
You guys know how I feel about scent. If I’m being honest, it’s probably one of the most important aspects of a product for me most of the time. There are just so many different options and scents for almost every type of beauty product now (clean or conventional), so I don’t see the point in buying or using a product that doesn’t smell good to me.
Fitglow Beauty’s Lip Colour Serums are possibly one of the new clean beauty releases that I was most excited about when I first saw the teaser ads. It’s a lipgloss! It plumps! It’s anti-aging as well! Well, I’m here to report that I’m pretty impressed so far.
It’s less than two weeks into October and I just ran out of a few staples, so this month’s empties post is here early! I use two of these products about five times a day and pretty much buy them in bulk. The other two have been my shower staples for months and I’m taking a break from one for now and retiring the other for good.
